A Fresh, New Office to Work in

Here is a quick peek as to what we have been busy with lately...

A quick phone picture...
This photo was just taken on the phone and before we decided to put our new trim down.  Hopefully by the end of the week I will have finished photos of our newly redecorated and half reno’d office!

Hope you enjoy!!!

Snippets of our Office Redo!

Today I am going to start giving some preview of the things we have done in our office for our mini-reno!  These hanging folders on the wall were a really great idea!

2 of the hanging wall folders

I had bought these a few months back, when in almost all my home magazines that I receive had a 40% off one MS product at Staples.  I figured I would try them and they are pretty cool.  I just love the color of them and how convenient they are for me.  I can give each person in the household a dedicated slot to put papers in. This really is handy for my husband since he is always misplacing papers.  The smaller folder is being used to put bills in that need to be mailed out.  I still have another package of the bigger folders and will hang them near these ones soon.

While shopping at Target the other day, my daughter spotted this lamp that had a shade that was entirely covered with feathers.  This lamp was approximately $40.  I knew I still had some white feather strands still left so we just went and bought a lamp that she liked!  When we got home we sat down and hot glued the feather strand around and around until we got this:

It looks awesome and we DIY'd it together!

Hope you enjoy!!!

Words of Wisdom to Live By...

Well the flooring people just came to our house and measured our rooms today!!  Very excited at this point!  Now it will be time for the “hard” work of going thru all of our junk in our closets and purging stuff we really do NOT need!  After we get those rooms done we will be finishing our office, which is what I am looking forward to.  I am aiming to have all of these projects completed by the time it is back-to-school.
While going thru my closet I found a paper from Girl Scout Camp with the lyrics to the song, “Don’t Laugh at Me”.  Made me really happy to find it and think about when we participated in that 'seminar' at camp on bullying. We need to bring awareness to everyone that there are some people who are willing to hurt others to no end just to make themselves feel better.  People who bully never win.

“Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me”

In light of this, I decided to create an Anti-bullying treasury on Etsy.  Here is the link!

Hope you enjoy and this inspires you!!!

Easter Eggs with a touch of Sunburst!

I hope everyone had a great Easter holiday!  We have been living off ham and eggs for the past few days and I will be very glad when our 2 ½ dozen eggs are gone!  My daughter went back to school yesterday so I am still, in a way recuperating and trying to get back into a semi-normal schedule.  I have been very productive lately by getting my house all organized and finishing up all my ‘deep spring cleaning’.  I found these cute little pink pails in the $1 area (right when you walk in) at Target!  I just put sticky circles on with the name of what is to be stored in that container.  I figured this would be a great idea for my girls for their arts and crafts projects.  At least it will be easy for someone to find a specific item!

Recently I have been finding lots of very nice spring printables- and by ‘find’ I mean ‘living on pinterest and pinning till my heart is content!’  ;)  Speaking of pinterest,  I find so much inspiration on there for many different crafts I want to try but my dh thinks I’m nuts!  I do have to admit he really does enjoy the sunburst mirror that I finished and hung above our king size sleigh bed!!!

I basically just took bamboo skewers and hot glued them in different depths/spots all around a circular piece of thick cardboard (that is the same size as the mirror).  Once I was completely satisfied with the bamboo skewers, I used gorilla glue and attached that to the circular mirror.  To mount it onto the wall I used the Velcro 3M strips.  I prefer using most of the temporary 3m supplies because I always change my mind, especially when it comes to decorating, and who knows maybe in a month I may have something new to hang above the bed! ;)    I am going to try to remember the next time I do a craft project to take step-by-step photos so I can post for everyone in blogland to see!
  Hope you enjoy!
